Producers Award; developed at Last Frontier Theatre Conference, Out of the Loop Fringe Festival); and NOMAD AMERICANA (World Premiere: Fresh Ink Theatre; developed at WaterTower Theatre, Nouveau 47 Theatre). Kira holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from Baylor University and MFA in Playwriting from Boston University. Before entering into grad school, she spent time in various nonprofits working at the intersection of social work, youth development, and arts education. She strives to incorporate those learned practices and lived experiences into her writing by developing inclusive, accessible, trauma informed spaces that make way for communal healing. Rockwell’s character-driven plays aim to disrupt complacency, foster constructive empathy, and cultivate proactive hope. She writes to sculpt the contemporary Southern narrative in an earnest attempt to dismantle harmful stereotypes. Her acclaimed neurodivergent love story WITH MY EYES SHUT is now available through Original Works Publishing.
