Kira is an award-winning playwright from North Texas. Her character driven plays seek to foster empathy, cultivate hope, and challenge complacency. Her work includes, The Tragic Ecstasy of Girlhood, Nomad Americana, and With My Eyes Shut. Most recently, her play The Tragic Ecstasy of Girlhood, won the Judith Royer Award of Excellence in Playwriting, it is the second place recipient of the Paula Vogel playwriting award, and also the National Winner of The Bridge Initiative’s Bechdel Test Fest.

Her plays have been developed with Boston Playwrights’ Theatre, Third Culture Theatre, and Fresh Ink Theatre. Her work has been featured across the nation in various festivals such as the Hollywood Fringe Festival (2018 Best in Dance & Physical Theatre) Last Frontier Theatre Conference (2016) Little Black Dress Ink's Onstage Fest (2017, 2016, 2015) and WaterTower Theatre’s Out of the Loop Fringe Festival (2015, 2016).

Kira holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from Baylor University and is currently in her final year of the MFA playwriting program at Boston University, under the direction of her mentor, Kate Snodgrass. Kira is hitched to Mark Rockwell, owner of Lonesome Hero Design Studio. They live together in Boston with the sweetest, fastest, lab/pit rescue named Koda.
